City of New Brighton <br />July 24, 1979 <br /> <br />1 <br />12. That due to the close proximity of the park to the <br />condominium building it is advisable and appropriate <br />that the condominium parking area be located on the <br />south side of the condominium building and therefore <br />it is appropriate to permit front yard parking in a <br />residential district. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br />Vote on main motion as amended. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to <br />defer action on the second reading of an <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING THE NEW BRIGHTON ZONING <br />ORDINANCE BY REZONING CERTAIN PROPERTY <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON FROM B-3 <br />GENERAL BUSINESS TO R-1 SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL <br />AND R-2 TWO FAMILY RESIDENTIAL (generally north <br />of Rice Creek Road, south of Mississippi Street, <br />east of 29th Avenue and west of Rice Creek <br />Shopping Center).until such time as the final <br />plans for PRD #27 are presented for Council <br />consideration. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes motion carried <br />Tom Rubelke, trustee of the New Brighton <br />Christian Church appeared on behalf of <br />the congregation. He expressed concern with <br />the street closing of 15th Street because <br />15th Street is the primary access to the <br />church, that 151th Street provides a direct <br />access for fire and police protection, and <br />that various alternates were available to <br />the closing of the street. Further, that <br />the :.church wanted to be on record as being <br />in opposition to the closing of 15th Street. <br />Second Reading <br />R-103, R-109. <br />Defer Action <br />Street Closing <br />15th St. NW <br />Hidden Oaks Park <br />Report No. 79-451 <br />Neil Banther, also a trustee of the Church, <br />stated he also was opposed to the closing of <br />15th Street and expressed concern with the <br />proposal that will require children to <br />cross 29th Avenue. <br />John Pope, church member, stated he was in opposition-to <br />the closing of 15th Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Myckleby stated that he was opposed to the closing <br />of 15th Street and that the upgrading of 14th Street should <br />be considered. <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Werdouschegg to direct staff <br />to include the upgrading of 14th Street NW from Silver Lake <br />-4-
