i <br />Council Proceedings <br />City of New Brighton <br />March 8, 1977 <br />'Motion by Hardt, seconded by Senden to direct administration to <br />prepare resolution approving VN -170 based on the following <br />findings of fact: <br />1. The recommended action does not grant Dahlke Trailer <br />Sales special privilege because the sign ordinance <br />anticipated front of the building being the face <br />wi h the major dimensions. The applicant's <br />building has its front on the narrow side of the <br />building, thereby creating a small signable area. <br />2. The location and shape of both the property and buildings <br />present unique circumstances regarding signing. <br />The property being situated near I-694, I -35W and Old <br />Hwy 8 and the building having large setbacks from all <br />roads also present unique circumstances. Further, the <br />narrow side of the building is the front side, which <br />was not anticipated by the ordinance. <br />3. A hardship exists for the signing of this property by <br />reason of the unique circumstances noted above, <br />and further to include in such resolution the following <br />conditions: <br />1. That the wall sign on the south wall of the office <br />building be limited to no more than 22.5% of the <br />selected signable area. <br />2. That the wall sign on the east wall of the repair shop <br />be limited to 18.7% of the selected signable area. <br />3. 'That a temporary ground sign along Old Highway 8 be <br />permitted until August 15, 1977. <br />4. That the temporary ground sign be set back the required <br />distance from the property line along Old Highway 8. <br />5. That the approval for the above noted signs be <br />conditioned on the billboards being made to conform <br />by March 1980. <br />3 ayes - 1 Naye (Werdouschegg) - carried <br />0 <br />
