=Approved
Keefe recommended that staff check the height requirement for pedestrian bridges for the skyway; he
Neves that there is a higher requirement for height.
Mark Nordland, Ryan Companies, stated that the only concern they would have is the recommendation to build
a wall to screen the loading dock area. Be stated that the dock is four feet below the street grade level and
several evergreen trees will be planted in the area to help with the screening. They are concerned that a wall
would not be visually appealing at that level. He added that the majority of the trucks that will come in would
be smaller UPS trucks and occasionally a larger truck. Baker asked staff is they were considering a wall to
cover the entire ramp or a small wing wall. Gundlach replied that the intention of the code is to hide the doors
and the landing area, not the entire ramp. Nordland replied that prior to Council they would put together some
site line studies to show how the view will be with and without the wall.
Zisla inquired to how many employees would be at the location. Nordland replied that they expect slightly over
400 employees at this first phase. Baker asked what the company does. Nordland replied that they manufacture
small in-plantable, medical devises.
Zisla asked if the number of employees was used to calculate the park dedication fee. Gundlach replied the fee
was arrived at by how many people, on average in the City, occupy commercial or industrial land per acre.
O'Keefe stated that a sidewalk is not shown along 14th Street NW, and asked how it is decided what streets will
have sidewalks. Gundlach replied that 14th Street NW dead ends in that location and thus a sidewalk was not
proposed for that area.
hifcrl inquired if there will a cafeteria with on-site food preparation. Nordland replied that there would be
Itch area, but not on-site food preparation. Schiferl asked what type of material would be recycled and if there
would be adequate recycling space for those materials. Nordland replied that he is not sure of what specific
materials would be recycled, but assumes that it will be office products, plastics, and metal cans.
O'Keefe asked if there is only one door along the Northwest Parkway. Nordland replied that there will be one
main door, but is designed to add doors in the future if necessary.
Motion by Baker, Second by Zisla to CLOSE THE PUBLIC FEARING.
6 Ayes, 0 Nays. MOTION CARRIED.
Motion by O'Brien, Second by Zisla to APPROVAL of LP2007-009, PU2007-007, PL2007-004, FP2007-004.
6 Ayes, 0 Nays. MOTION CARRIED.
Announcements and Updates
Gundlach reported the Commission has received a copy of the Old Hwy 8 study that was discussed recently at
the EEC meeting. The Mayor and the City Manager felt that for clarification every Commission should receive
copy of the study.
Zisla commended Commissioner O'Keefe for incredible dedication to the City by attending this evening's
meeting in light of the bridge tragedy. He added at previous meetings several Commissioners have highlighted
Page 6 of 7
