October 9, 2007- Page 5 Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates: Councilmember Bauman Councilmember Bauman reported a new police officer; Benjamin DeBoer has been hired and will be sworn in at an upcoming council meeting. Four public safety employees completed the Twin Cities Marathon; Director Jacobson, Deputy Director Olson, Officer Paetznick and Officer Hyland. The next Public Safety meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24`h Councilmember Doffing Councilmember Doffing was able to watch Planning Commission on recast. The historical society Over 80 Banquet was attended. The retirement party for Al Bauer was attended. A break in was reported in Councilmember Doffing's neighborhood. Apologies were expressed to those residents who were misinformed about the Townhall meeting date. Councilmember Buriz Councilmember Burg attended the Over 80 Banquet as well. Councilmember Burg assumed the role of Acting Mayor and attended Al Bauer's retirement party. Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission held a traveling meeting; where city parks were visited. The disc golf course seemed to be running successfully. There is one more meeting scheduled for the Trails Committee, Wednesday November 7th, at 4:00; just prior to the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission meeting. Councilmember Hoffman The EDC meeting was held earlier in the month, much of what was discussed was brought to the council meeting. Mayor Larson Mayor Larson thanked Councilmember Burg for her role as Acting Mayor in his absence. Mayor Larson was at a National League of Cities event in Beaumont, Texas, where he was able to present the City's Polypartners program.
