Construction of level terraces on sloping lawns to <br />temporarily store water until it infiltrates. <br />a) Advantages <br />-Reduce amount of runoff. <br />b) Disadvantages <br />-Initial construction cost. <br />-May be difficult to mow on terraces. <br />-Erosion scour may occur (adequate outlets <br />for excess water are needed). <br />c) Applicability <br />On all lawns and open spaces, especially <br />in residential areas. <br />The above list is not all inclusive but it does contain <br />major practices and management measures. Variations of <br />these methods can be devised. <br />B. A rise in the high water elevation is likely when additional <br />=drainage is received from the seminary. This rise can be kept <br />to a minimum by application of the practices and measures out- <br />lined in A above. <br />C. The amount of pollutants entering the lake can be controlled <br />by the following methods: <br />1. Do not deposit organic debris such as leaves and <br />grass clippings at the lakes edge. <br />2.
