w <br />I <br />February 1, 1977 <br />Memo <br />To: Councilmembers <br />From: Councilman Hardt <br />Re: Schedule of Special Meetings <br />The Council will recall tht,t T proposers, at our meeti_r47 on meetings and <br />rules of order, that a calendar of special council meetings he adopted this year. <br />Unfortunately, this proposal was not seconded, so I could not, speak on this <br />proposal. I am asking the Council to consider again this idea. T feel it has <br />a number of advantages to recommence it. <br />1) Such a calendar would mean better sehPdii1inp; of oiir time. 1,1e are all busy people, <br />many of us having many respons+ilities o>>tsi_de of our co»nci.l work which call. on <br />us to meet on evenings. With a calendar of special meetings adopted early in the year, <br />we could plan our personal calendars so that fewer conflicts nmuld arise. We could <br />also plan our time more wisely in researching un-comi_ny, issiies. <br />2) A calendar of special council meetings would allow the staff to schedule their <br />time better. If the staff knows ahead of time when a spec: al meeting is scheduled, <br />4 <br />they can plan their time accorlingly. We all knmT it is easier to plan our oT„m time <br />out when we have a deadline, and can count on having a certain amount of time <br />to work in. <br />3) !1 calendar of special co»ncil meetings would help advisory cormitt,Pes plan their <br />time better.
