Memo on Special Conhnil Neetings- P. 2
Citizen Study Commission. These commissions can better plan their schedules
and deadlines if they know precisely when their matters will he brought 'before
the council.
h) A calendar of special council meetings would help us prioritize oiir time.
As was pointed out at lhhe meeting on meetings, we had many special council
meetings last year. Perhaps we did not need -I0 have so many. I wo »ld suggest
that we should be more rigid in looking at our personal. time allowances and
e/
those of the staff. A calendar of special meetings would help us identify those
issues that were important enough to spend extra time on. If an issue arises
during the ,year which may warrant a special meeting, then we can look at it
in terms of what we already have scheduled, and what we can fit in. I do not
enjoy attending any more
meetings
than anybody else. This
is precisely why
I suggest the following
schedule
for special meetings for
1977:
January- Meeting on Meetings
HRA
February- Open
March- Open
April -HRA Development Guide
May -Comprehensive Plan
June- Comprehensive Plan
July—Open
Anpust.—Open
September-Rudiret, Heari.nps
October -Open
November—Pn'blit Improvements
December—T,icenses
'I offer this calendar as a point of departure for my fellow councilmembers.
They may add or subtract meetings as they wish. I feel the above calendar is
the minimfim number of meetings to take care of our big issues.
