1 Council Proceedings City of New Brighton Jan. 11, 1977 Last year the Council adopted ordinances governing large animals and accessory buildings, A new snowmobile ordinance based on a model ordinance for Ramsey County was adopted, making a Ramsey County system of snowmobile trails a step closer. In looking ahead, 1977 should be an exciting year. At the same time it is going to be a particularly challenging year. The HRA will be submitting its redevelopment plan to the Council for approval, and the Planning Commission will be submitting a comprehensive plan to the Council for adoption. Very likely both will be controversial; particularly if they involve property acquisition or zoning changes. In any event, the Council's responsibility is that of reviewing in an impartial manner and taking action that will benefit the City as a whole. It now appears that 1977 will be the year of decision with respect to the future of the golf course in New Brighton. The Council must continue to review its ordinances. Such reviews must be aimed not only at insuring the adequacy of the ordinances, but also to insure that they aren't overly restrictive. A review of the numerous hearings before the Council during the past year emphasizes the need to review particularly the sign ordinance, the fence ordinance and the zoning ordinance. All in all, 1977 should prove to be an interesting year and one that we should look forward to with an air of anticipation. Its challenges can be met by the Council acting in a spirit of cooperation. 1977 Appointments Mayor Bromander appointed Ted Wolkerstorfer to a one-year term as Assistant Weed Inspector. Mayor Bromander appointed Leland Schultz, 1193 Highview Drive, to a 3 -year term on the Civil Service Commission. Motion by Werdouschegg, seconded by Senden to approve Mayor's appointment 5 ayes- 0 nayes- carried 2 Appointments Ass't Weed Inspector Civil Service Commission
