I am probably no different than you or anyone else when it comes to the safety of our children. If I did not have children and if there were no small children in the neighbor- hood, and if there were not 1,000 children on the adjacent Pike Lake playground, I undoubtedly would not be as adamant regarding this matter. As T have told many of my neighbors, and they concur, it is just a matter of time before someone is killed or seriously injured. It is a miracle that a serious accident has not already happened. The traffic count for both Robin Lane and Thirteenth Street is far, far too high for a residential street that has children walking to and from school every day. For the last several years, I have coached both little league baseball and football on the Pike Lake field and have observed the activities of both drivers and children in the early evening. Believe me, we are on a collision course as there are too many children and too many cars. I believe that in reviewing the over all problem that it is a matter of assigning priorities. A redirection of Palmer Drive and Robin Lane will in no way affect the business community, nor will it drastically change the driving convenience of those residents living north and east of 14th Street. However, it will enhance the peace of mind of the Robin Lane, 13th Street and North Court residents by knowing that their children have been given a fair chance to live and play in a community that has been made safe for them. I regret that I will be unable due to an out of town business ask for your consideration and to attend the hearing on December 2 commitment at that time. I sincerely support on this issue.
