-3 - <br />Ramsey County is working on some of the things you are talking about. They are <br />trying to put together a "Trail Quest" for biking and walking. The difficulty with <br />GIS is that every City has different codes for their sidewalks, trails, bike lanes, <br />etc. Ramsey County is working on definitions for cities. This way, when cities <br />gather their information, it can go into the Ramsey County system. There is an <br />online program that will test this GIS software and give cities a way to implement <br />it. <br />VII. Announcements <br />A. Chair Updates <br />Commissioner Frischman mentioned that she represented New Brighton at an <br />Emerging Recreation Leaders Institute meeting. It was in St. Louis Park. Jeanne <br />was there as part of a panel to talk about how our commission works and how it <br />works with the Council and staff. Jeanne stated we are a very forward thinking <br />community. Our commission is a very active one. <br />B. Department Happenings <br />Director Breuer went through the September, 2007 Department Happenings with <br />the Commission. <br />Director Breuer mentioned that we have applied for the Hamburger Helper <br />Scholarship and hoping to get at least a portion of it. She also brought to the <br />Commission's attention that we are in the process of forming a Steering <br />Committee for the Northwest Quadrant Planning Initiative. It will have 15 <br />representatives. We will have someone from each of the City Commissions <br />Jeanne Frischman will be serving from this Commission. We will have someone <br />from Public Safety, Community Development, someone from the Trails <br />Committee (several volunteered), Lisa Harreld will fill this seat, Historical <br />Society, City staff, Bonestroo Park Planner, the arts community. We do not have <br />anyone yet from the athletic community. More information will be coming to you <br />regarding this Committee. <br />Sandy showed the Commission a Park Atlas Map created by Mark Andrle. He has <br />much detail on each park such as benches, bills and garbage cans. <br />VIII. Adjourn <br />MOTION BY BUDZYNSKI, SECONDED BY NORTON, TO ADJOURN AT 8:35 <br />P.M. MOTION CARRIED. <br />
