<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> • <br /> <br /> In response to the I35W bridge collapse, Allina sent 6 ambulances, 1 supply trailer and 4 <br /> managers to assist at the scene. All EMS agencies involved transported over 60 patients <br /> in under 2 hours. <br /> <br /> Allina will implement electronic charting; this will give them wireless access and will <br /> enhance their ability to receive calls, utilize mapping software, etc. This implementation <br /> is scheduled for late 2008 or early 2009. <br /> Allina has ordered 8 new ambulances; they went with Chevy's for the first time. <br /> <br /> Director Jacobson reported there are a couple of pending life saving awards. One is <br /> scheduled for the October 9th Council meeting and will include 2 people from Allina as <br /> well as 6 Public Safety personnel. <br /> <br /> Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br /> Commissioner Woods noted the following items: <br /> o VIPS held their monthly meeting last night. <br /> o The recent blood drive was a success; they exceeded the number of pints and the <br /> number of donors. <br /> o VIPS took over 100 KidCare photos at the Christ the King Block Party. <br /> o VIPS continue to do fingerprinting Thursday mornings. <br /> o VIPS are looking at the new KidCare system; hopefully we can move to this in the <br /> next year or so. <br /> o VIPS member Ray Tandeski has been putting in a lot of hours on graffiti patrol. <br /> o VIPS will be involved in the upcoming CERT training. <br /> o VIPS is looking at possibly doing joint training with the Reserves. <br /> o VIPS have over 325 volunteer hours in so far for the month of September. <br /> <br /> Public Safely/Homeland Security Update <br /> <br /> Director Jacobson noted the following items: <br /> o Officer Brandon Kelm has been in the Field Training program for about one month <br /> now and Officer Bradley Krebsbach was sworn in last night. The final open position <br /> has been conditionally offered with this person hopefully starting mid to late October. <br /> o Public Safety personnel will be running the Twin Cities Marathon again on October <br /> 7th <br /> o Fire Fighter Bill Chopskie is retiring after 10 years; he has accepted a position with <br /> the Duluth Fire Department. <br /> o Public Safety is recruiting for the open Public Safety Officer position that was <br /> vacated when Officer Bradley Krebsbach was hired. The job posting will close on <br /> October 5th <br /> • o A recruiting process will be held for the Deputy Fire Chief position which was <br /> vacated when Deputy Fire Chief Frieden retired in September. <br /> o The final report regarding our National Night Out activities has been submitted. We <br /> ended up with 135 parties. <br />
