Division 5 - Communication Advisory Commission <br />See. 2-110. Established. <br />A Communication Advisory Commission shall be established for the City. (Ord. No. 610, 12-13-94; Ord. <br />No. 632, 8-12-97; Code of 2001) <br />Sec. 2-111. Purpose. <br />Under the direction of the City Council, the mission of this Commission shall be to: <br />(1) Build communication links between citizens, businesses, and local government. <br />(2) Promote active participation in New Brighton community life through the use of present and evolving <br />forms of electronic communication. (Ord. No. 610, 12-13-94; Ord. No. 632, 8-12-97; Code of 200 1) <br />Sec. 2-112. Duties and Responsibilities. <br />The duties and responsibilities of this Commission shall be to: <br />(1) Advise the City Council and the City Manager's office on ways to improve the quality of municipal <br />programming and use of the bulletin board by: <br />A. Random and systematic viewing of channel offerings. <br />B. Community surveys or call-in techniques. <br />C. Comparisons with other municipal channel offerings. <br />D. Identification of opportunities to share programming among other municipal producers or <br />public agencies. <br />E. Production of programs with the assistance of New Brighton and the North Suburban <br />Community Television staff, equipment, facilities, and volunteers. <br />F. Recommending program standards to the City Council and ensuring that programs on the <br />municipal channel meet the Council approved standards. <br />G. Production of quality programs on the municipal channel. <br />H. Encouraging City departments, other community organizations and citizens to assist with <br />quality program production on the municipal channel. <br />1. Work in concert with the North Suburbs Access Corporation and the North Suburban Cable <br />Commission to facilitate new approaches to community programming in the franchise area. <br />J. Helping to develop and initiate television programming of area wide significance in <br />conjunction with other cities of the North Suburban Cable Commission. <br />K. Establishing policies to govem the use of City owned cable equipment. <br />2-14 <br />
