A Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission is hereby established. <br />Sec. 2-78. Purpose. <br />The purpose of this Commission is to advise the Council on the proper use of, and care for, <br />parks and the natural environment and policies covering recreation activities of the City of <br />New Brighton. <br />Sec. 2-79. Duties and responsibilities. <br />The duties and responsibilities of this Commission shall be: <br />(a) Oversee the activities of public and private agencies in New Brighton with concern <br />for their effects on the quality of the parks and environment in New Brighton. Raise <br />issues and concerns for staff and council to consider in regards to those activities. <br />(b) Consider current and proposed plans and operations of city departments as they affect <br />or concern parks, the environment, and recreation activities. Seek community opinion <br />as appropriate and evaluate and recommend action to improve them. <br />(c) Monitor conditions of city park property and community environmental conditions and <br />practices and evaluate and recommend actions to improve them. <br />(d) Keep the school district apprised and seek its participation and cooperation in use of <br />school and park land, buildings, and equipment. <br />(e) Perform other duties and functions or conduct studies and investigations as directed by <br />the council. <br />DIVISION 3. PUBLIC POLICY COMMISSION <br />Sec. 2-80. Establishment. <br />A Public Policy Commission is hereby established. <br />Sec. 2-81. Purpose. <br />The purpose of this commission shall be to advise the council on public policy issues of a <br />general nature, or outside the purview of other advisory commissions, as assigned by the <br />council. <br />See. 2-82.
