Allina Medical <br />Bill Snoke presented the 2007 totals for medical calls in New Brighton handled by <br />Allina. There were 1,594 ambulance calls in New Brighton in 2007; which is only 10 <br />more than in 2006. The average response time was 7:16. <br />Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods noted the following items from VIPS: <br />a VIPS helped with the SantaCop program. <br />a VIPS assisted at two mercury spills and assisted with three blood drives in 2007. <br />o CPA begins on Tuesday, Feb. 5, and goes thru April 1. <br />a Kid Care will be done in February at Pike Lake. <br />a VIPS completed a CERT class. <br />a The next CERT class will start April 17th <br />a VIPS will be attending the MNVOAD Conference on Feb. 16`x'. <br />o VIPS will assist with the blood drive scheduled for Feb. 121h. <br />a Project Lifesaver still has one client. <br />Public Safety / Homeland SecurityUpdate <br />Director Jacobson reviewed the December 2007 Monthly Report. He also noted the <br />following items: <br />o NBDPS assisted at the Deputy Lopez crash scene. <br />o Officer Hamdorf will be working as an Acting Sergeant until Sgt. Masterman is able <br />to return to work. <br />a Officer Paetznick has been appointed as the new Deputy Fire Chief. <br />a Fire Fighter Jerry Hedman has been appointed as the new Fire Captain. <br />a Sgt. Bitzan-Hieb began her additional duties, supervising CIS. <br />a Fire Fighter Scott Vaughn was awarded the MN VFW Fire Fighter Gold Medal <br />Award for his continuing work with the SantaCop program. <br />There was a shooting in the 800 block of 91h Avenue NW. We have good leads and are <br />looking for the suspect. <br />The next neighborhood meeting will be on Wednesday, February 13, at Sunny Square <br />park from 6:30-8:30 pm. <br />The Public Safety Department has started a new hiring process for a police officer <br />position. Applications will be accepted until February 22. <br />Interviews were conducted for the part-time Office Technician position which will be <br />vacated when Faye Drewianka retires the end of February. Faye has worked for our <br />department for 15 years. She will be missed! <br />
