Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
SRFC Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative (SSIHS) Connections Grant
Partners of Suburban Ramsey County
the ground by engaging in ongoing focus groups, parent and youth surveys,
parent/youth advisory councils, cultural leader advisory councils, low
income/subsidized housing resident advisory boards (via Polynesian Village
Supportive Housing Partnership; Maple Pond Homes Supportive Housing Partnership,
Montreal Courts Supportive Housing Partnership and Cedar View Town Homes
Supportive Housing Partnership) and other dialogues to continue involving students,
parents, families and community members in the design, implementation and
continuous improvement of SRFC and the continuum of care and to learn of and
address emergent needs in the Suburban Ramsey communities.
SRFC has changed circumstances in our communities from conditions of risk to
conditions that protect. They have done this by diligently adhering to three key
principals: Reality -Testing, Research and Results Accountability:
n talking to children, youth and their parents to determine what's important to them,
what their strengths and needs are and how we can help (Reality -Testing),
o combining their input with what research says works (Research), and
v allocating human, financial and in-kind resources toward strategies that have the
best chance at making a positive, life -changing impact (Results Accountability).
SRFC Vision statement. "Suburban Ramsey County is a community where our children
and youth's safety, security, health and learning are a priorityfor all and no child
remains at risk. "
Community Engagement
In December of 2005, these partners embarked on a social marketing campaign to engage
a larger, more diverse multi -sector and inter -generational partnership to bring awareness
to the ever growing needs of children, youth and families, the declining resources to meet
these needs and the urgency to make children and youth's health, learning, safety and
security a public priority in our communities. 130 children, youth, parents, policy
makers, practitioners and community members came to the event and 101
participants engaged in a discussion around how we can all work together to
support children, youth and families experiencing at -risk circumstances and
conditions in our communities. This initiative is called "How are the Children?" It is
designed to engage, inform and mobilize multiple and diverse sectors of the community
including minority and majority voices and perspectives to develop into strong
community leaders that influence the public priorities in our communities. They will
form the How Are the Children Community Advisory Council (CAC). Members will be
responsible for continuing to identify strengths, needs, problems and concerns and
recommend practical and comprehensive solutions that will aid in the improvement of all
children, youth and families lives in Suburban Ramsey County so as to ensure that no
child at risk.
