Any hours over the 360 maximum accrual <br />limit will be lost at the end of the calendar year (December 31), unless special exception <br />is granted by the City Manager. <br />24.3 Two employees may not be allowed vacation at the same time unless approved by the <br />Director. <br />24.4 An employee leaving the municipality's service in good standing and. after giving proper <br />notice of separation, shall be compensated for up to 220 hours of accrued vacation leave. <br />ARTICLE XXV- SICK LEAVE <br />25.1 Rate of Accrual. Sick leave with pay shall be accrued by permanent employees at the rate of <br />eight (8) hours for each calendar month of full-time service or major fraction thereof. <br />25.2 Use Restricted. Paid sick leave shall be granted only to those employees who have accrued sick <br />leave time. <br />25.3 Purpose. Sick leave shall not be considered as a privilege which an employee may use at his or <br />her discretion, but shall be allowed in case of necessity and actual illness, legal quarantine, or <br />disability of the employee or to receive dental or medical care or other sickness preventative <br />measures approved by the City Manager. <br />25.4 Use for Funerals/Illness in Family. Employees may use up to three (3) days of paid funeral <br />leave to attend the funeral of a member of the employee's immediate family (see definition of <br />immediate family in Chapter 21 of the City's Personnel Code). Up to two (2) additional days of <br />sick leave may also be used for attending the funeral of an employee's immediate family <br />member. <br />14 <br />
