April 8, 2008 Page 4 of 5 <br />Coundhnenber Philips questioned the use ofFund 460 for this item and why ifthis is a useful tool <br />for stag it is not included in the regular general fiord budget Mr. Femelius responded it is likely <br />not in the general fiord budget to reduce the stress on the general budget Councilmember Phillips <br />' questioned the idea of purchasing the 2007 data, instead of an annual subscription. Mr. Femelius <br />described the program as prospective, and the school district supplies information annually based <br />on eruollment statistics. Mr. Lotter reported staff could look at a finrrding source other then fiord <br />460. Councilmember Doffing suggested it would be appropriate to be paid out of development <br />fiords. Councilmember Phillips acknowledged he moved the item to Council Business to address <br />the following questions: Is there a funding source other than Fund 460, and the second question <br />being the principal partners in the company. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bauman, seconded by Councrlmernber Phillips to table the item to <br />allow questions to be addressed. <br />5 Ayes -0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates: <br />Dean Lotter <br />Mr. Lotter reported a Policy Discussion is scheduled for April 28 at the Family Service Center. <br />Rottlund mediation is scheduled for April 21s. <br />Coundhnember Dokime <br />Councilmember Doffing addressed the recent comunission action. In reflection, Councilmember <br />Doffing expressed her regret and offered an apology to those commissioners who may have been <br />hurt. It was suggested that in the fixture, council examine the procedures for appointing <br />commissioners, Also suggested was the video taping of Economic Development Commission <br />meetings. The following news was shared form the Public Safety Commission, At the April 3e <br />meeting, a representative from Allina Medical will be speaking regarding ambulance care. Bill <br />Kems was reelected to the position of Chair for the Public Safety Commission. 13 applications <br />were received for the on call Fire Fighter position. CERT training begins April 0' at the Public <br />Safety Center. Councilmember Doffing has been working with Councilmember Phillips on a <br />resolution to address the eminent domain issue in the community. <br />Coundlmember Phrlhas <br />Councilmember Phillips will be attending the Planning Commission meeting April 15"i. <br />Couneftmember Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman attended the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission meeting <br />A CERT officer gave an update on the skate park at Freedom Park Veteran's park will be <br />replacing playground equipment. Questions were raised by some commissioners related to the <br />recent vacation of seats on various commissions Councilmember Bauman read a portion of a <br />response issued by the City Attorney related to commission members. The deadline for <br />applications for the Northwest Quadrant Financial Task Force is April l I". <br />' CouncHmember Burn <br />Councilmember Burg attended the Economic Development Commission meeting, a good portion <br />of discussion was about the elimination of commission members. Councilmember Burg reported <br />she was not at the meeting and she was not in agreement with deceasing the size of commissions. <br />
