rf NEW BRIGHTON PARKS, RECREATION, AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION <br />InBRGM MINUTES <br />APRIL 2, 2008 <br />. (Minutes in their entirety are kept on DVD at City Hall) <br />I. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Frischman. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Present: Commissioners Budzynski, Frischman, Harreld, Heinrich, Meyer, Norton, Samuelson, <br />Council member Gina Bauman, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jason West, Office <br />Assistant, Jodelle Olson <br />Absent: Tom Trevorrow <br />Also Present: Kerry Thorne, Civil Engineer I, Ray Tandeski, resident and VIP and Chris Wolla, <br />Park Maintenance Manager. <br />III. Minutes of March 5, 2008 <br />Jeanne Frischman stated the minutes were revised from what was sent out in the packets. The <br />section relating to the Trails Committee was updated; there was a little bit more detail added to <br />that section. The Commissioners have the revised minutes in front of them. <br />MOTION BY BUDZYNSKI, SECONDED BY SAMUELSON, TO ACCEPT THE MARCH 5, <br />2008 REVISED MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />. IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report — Council Member Bauman <br />Chair Frischman welcomed Council member Bauman as the new Council Liaison <br />to the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission. <br />Bauman stated the Council has decided to form a financial Task Force for the <br />Northwest Quadrant. It will be made up of 7-9 citizens with financial <br />backgrounds. Applications will be accepted through April 1 Ith. It is on the City's <br />website. The Council wants to move forward and put some new eyes on this <br />project which needs to move forward sooner than later. The east side needs to be <br />cleaned up. We do not have the money yet to do that. They will meet twice per <br />month; possibly up to three years. Bauman stated she will be the Council Liaison <br />to that task force. <br />Frischman stated the Council made some decisions on Commission structure and <br />asked if Bauman could elaborate on that. <br />Bauman said she was one that wanted to revisit the Commissions and see how <br />they work and how they are put together. Applications that come in do not get <br />looked at if previous Commission members continue. She feels this is something <br />that needs to be addressed. It's not that current people are bad or the wrong <br />people; it was just that we wanted to look at the Commissions, their structure and <br />function. On some commissions we just did not fill vacated positions. If you are <br />gone 4 times in one year, you will be asked to leave the commission. Bauman <br />responded to a question about the rational behind the decision to lower the <br />number of commission members. Bauman stated there was a request to decrease <br />
