Of <br />the city that works foBRUr l rM <br />Report Number 08-169 <br />Agenda Section VI -5 <br />Report Date June 5, 2008 <br />Council Meeting Date May 2, 2008 <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION— <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: QUOTES FOR CITY PROJECT 08-11, FERRELLGAS SITE <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this comments to supplement this report 6 Comments attached Comments attached <br />Recommendation: To accept and approve the low quotation in the amount of $31,409.00 <br />from Belair Excavating for City Project 08-11, Ferrellgas Site Demolition. <br />Legislative History: As a part of the final settlement with Ferrellgas, L.P. the last day of <br />occupation and use of the site was March 31, 2008. <br />Financial Impact: Belair Excavating has submitted the low quotation in an amount of <br />$31,409.00. <br />Explanation: The purpose of this item is to obtain Council approval of a quotation for work at <br />the former Ferrellgas site. The work generally consists of demolishing buildings, slabs, asphalt <br />pavement, concrete pads and structures, fences, private utilities, and other improvements at the <br />following address: 1430 Old Highway 8 NW in New Brighton, Minnesota. There are four <br />buildings located on the property and all are reportedly slab on grade construction. Buildings <br />include an office, a shop/garage, a loading dock, and an open storage structure. The property is <br />currently owned by the City and had historically been used as a propane distribution facility, <br />most recently operated by Ferrellgas. Various above and below -ground pipelines associated with <br />propane distribution are also present at the property. Only above grade pipelines will be removed <br />as part of this work. <br />The following quotations were received:Quote: <br />Belair Excavating <br />$31,409.00 <br />Veit & Company <br />$37,813.00 <br />North Pine Aggregate <br />$51,795.00 <br />All work must be completed by July 31, 2008. <br />Funding: This work will be paid for from funds on hand dedicated to the Northwest <br />Quadrant Redevelopment. <br />idvt.2'1 , J V"'J <br />Grant M.
