<br /> ( <br /> " <br /> \ -... , <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the following policy is <br /> established to force the rendering plants into compliance with <br /> applicab~e City, Metropolitan Sewer District and Pollution <br /> Control Agency regulations: <br /> 1. That the three rendering plants hire a consultant <br /> laboratory to work under the direction and control <br /> of the City to analyze their industrial wastes on a <br /> quantitative and qualitative basis and report to the <br /> City and rendering plants no later than February 15, <br /> 1974: <br /> 2. Based upon the results of the analysis (testing) <br /> program the rendering plants not in compliance with <br /> applicable standards shall make necessary changes to <br /> their industrial facilities to bring them into <br /> compliance with the following time table limitations: <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> 100 mg/l grease* or less Compliance,no changes <br /> required <br /> Over 100 but less than Reduction to 100 mg/l or <br /> 1000 mg/l grease less within 365 days <br /> Over 1000 mg/l grease Reduct.icim:': to less than <br /> 1000 mg/l within 45 days. <br /> Any rendering plant <br /> failing to reduce to less <br /> than 1000 mg/l in 45 days <br /> will loose i~s right to <br /> drscharge to the city. sewer:. <br /> Reduction to 100 mg/l or <br /> less within ~65 days <br /> * <br /> Grease as defined by Section 5-4 (a) of Metropolitan <br /> Sewer Board Sewage and Waste Control Rules and <br /> Regulations for the Metropolitan Disposal System. <br /> 3. In order to prevent spilled grease, or grease from poor <br /> housekeeping and/or working procedures, etc. , from <br /> entering the City Sewer System, each rendering plant <br /> by April 15, 1974, shall install grease traps having <br /> a minimum grease storage volume of 700 gallons on each <br /> industrial sewer service connected to the'~ City sewer <br /> line. <br /> ,- <br /> 4. Within 90 days from the receipt of the laboratory <br /> analysis, each rendering plant shall have plans and <br /> specifications for the necessary equipment to reduce the <br /> grease in their discharge to 100 mg/l or less. Such <br /> plans and specifications sht 11 by that'Bate have been <br /> approved by the Metropolitan Sewer Board and the <br /> rendering plants shall by that date award contracts for <br /> construction and ordered all equipment necessary for <br /> the implementation of the plans and specifications so <br /> approved. <br />
