..
, "L~ .. t 1
\1 f.J. v-
VI "
, 1601
RESOLUTION NO.
STATE OF MINNESOTA
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON
RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF fACT, GRANTING VARIANCE VN-139, AND
STATING REASONS FOR SUCH APPROVAL
WHEREAS Polynesian Village has made application to the
. City for a variance to permit a ground sign identifying the
apartment complex of a size greater than that permitted by
Chapter XIV of the Zoning Code, and
WHEREAS such application has been duly processed by the
City staff, received by the Planning Commission and considered
by the City Council at a properly called public hearing thereon
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE NEW BRIGHTON CITY COUNC:~L,
That the Council hereby makes the following findings of fact in
respect to VN-139:
Findings of Fact
1. The application for variance VN-139 wa$ filed with the City
on April 8, 1975.
2. The application met the technical requirements for considerat~on
by the city Council.
3. The Planning Commission considered the application on April 15
and May 20, 1975, and recommended approval on certain
conditions.
4. The City Council, pursuant to published and mailed notices,
held a public hearing on July 8, 1975, which hearing was
continued on August 12, 1975, to consider the application.
All persons present, including the applicant were given an
I opportunity to be heard.
5. The written comments and analysis of the City Building and
Planning Coordinator, the Planning commission minutes and
all statements made in favor of and opposed to the granting
of the variance were considered by the City Council.
'6. Polynesian Village is a large apartment complex consisting
of 360 units developed under the planned residential
development section of the city Zoning Code. It is bounded
on the north by Interstate Freeway 1-694, on tIle west by I
singl~ family residential development, on the south by a
County thoroughfare and on the east by a public street which
pr imar ily serves the apartment complex. Tl'le ",pr imary area for
signing to attract public attention is along the north
boundary adjacent to the freeway because the orientation of
the complex is fronting on the freeway and all other public
streets adjoining the complex do not lend themselves to
adequate identification signing.
