BETWEEN I 694 AND I 35W BY WID- <br /> ENING, THE CONSTRUCTION OF CURBING, SURFACING AND DRAINAGE <br /> FACILITIES AND LANDSCAPING <br /> WHEREAS 10th Street N.W. between I 694 and I 35W is a <br /> County State Aid Highway located within the City of New Brighton,clDd <br /> WHEREAS lOth Street N.W. is the primary access route to <br /> downtown New Brighton from I 694 and I 35W, and <br /> WHEREAS 10th Street N.W. between I 694 and I 35W carry <br /> a considerable amount of traffic with a high percentage of truck <br /> and semi trailer traffic, and <br /> WHEREAS lOth Street N.W. is presently a narrow 2 lane road <br /> without curbing and drainage facilities over much of its length, ccnd <br /> WHEREAS the intersection of 10th Street at Old Highway #8 <br /> is very narrow and does not have adequate turning radii for the <br /> many trucks which travel through this intersection, and <br /> WHEREAS 10th Street N.W" lith Avenue N.W., Long Lake Road <br /> and the access ramps to I 694 form a complex and dangerous <br /> intersection at the I 694 interchange, and <br /> WHEREAS future commerica1 development in the downtown area <br /> both North and South of I 694 and Long Lake Park North of I 694 <br /> will generate increased automobile and truck traffic on lOth <br /> I Street N.W., and <br /> ! <br /> WHEREAS the economic v.iabi1ity of existing and future <br /> commercial development in downtown New Brighton is dependent <br /> upon a convenient, direct, safe and aesthetically pleasing access. <br /> , <br />
