a NBDPS will have five new fire fighters starting on July 1; a police officer hiring <br />0 process is ongoing. <br />• <br />Officer Ed Sypniewski is working with the life guards at Long Lake Regional Park to <br />encourage them to call us when they have problems at the beach. Officer Sypniewski will <br />work increased traffic enforcement and write parking tickets. <br />Polynesian Village will be the recipient of a grant from a non-profit organization called <br />Kaboom. They will build a new playground on October 14; employees from Horne Depot <br />and members from the Minnesota Vikings will be part of this. Officer Paetznick will look at their <br />licensing period. <br />Director Jacobson was presented with the idea of having student representatives on the <br />Public Safety Commission to get kids involved in local government. They would attend <br />the Public Safety Commission meetings but would be non-voting members. The initial <br />thought is to have two students be the student representatives for the period of one school <br />year and they would need to be New Brighton residents. There was discussion regarding <br />the pros and the cons of this. <br />Commissioner Woods made a motion to authorize Director Jacobson to contact Irondale <br />High School to secure two students to attend Public Safety Commission meetings as non- <br />
