Page 4 of 5 <br />Council Member Mary Burg -- Economic Development Commission <br />Councdmernber Burg reported the EDC meeting was held November 6, she was unable to attend. Also <br />noted was the item on the consent agenda related to the skate park and Freedom Park will be forwarded <br />to the Park, Reaction and Environmental Commission for consideration, that meeting will be January <br />7, 2009. A success letter and story from Northwest Youth & Family services was shared. <br />Council Member David Phii M - Planning Commission <br />Councilmanber Phillips reported the Planning Commission will consider a proposed overlay district <br />near Brighton Village. New Brighton saw a good tum -out at the polls on election day. <br />Council Member Sharon Do - Public Sof Commission <br />Comalmember Doffing reported Van Fire Heroes will be honored with a "Minnesota <br />Public Safety Service Award" at an event November 13". hundale High School principal Colleen <br />Wambach spoke at the recent Public Safety Commission regarding culture in the community, and <br />primarily within lrondale. Santa Cop was anriounced, and interested residents were directed to contact <br />Officer Kathy McNeely. The next Public Safety Commission meeting is scheduled for November 2e <br />Gratitude was expressed to all Veteran's. <br />Council Member Gina Bauman — Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Commission <br />Councilmember Bauman reported The City received notice from Game time that the City was awarded <br />two playground grants, one for $18,930 for Driftwood Park, and the other for $17,916.50 for Vermont <br />Park. <br />November 3'd the Family Service Center welcomed it's 300,000 visitor. Brightwood Hills is scheduled <br />to close November 12, 2008. The winter brochure (published in house by park and recreation staff -with <br />a $1,500 savings) has been distributed. "Touch a truck" Edventure Day drew 355 youth to the Eagles <br />Nest. The next Adventure Day is scheduled for November 28 from 10:00-2:00. The Family Service <br />Center will remain open on Veteran's Day. The December PREC meeting has been cancelled, the <br />next PREC meeting is scheduled for January 7, 2009. <br />Mayor Larson <br />Mayor Larson offered gratitude to all the election judges throughout the City, along with Karen Halley <br />who coordinated the elections.
