Safety. If you want to sign up, go on to the City website and sign up for that. As a
Department we are thinking about altering the Department Happenings at the very
end telling you what's coming up.
Harreld commented that she likes that. The City does a fabulous job with all of
our web technology. We still need someone that can discuss things and ask
questions of.
Samuelson asked when the grant will self destruct?
Breuer and Harreld thought it was 2010.
Samuelson also wondered if there are any other grants out there that we could
lose.
Breuer said, we were awarded the DNR grant and we are doing all these reports
needed. Now we are waiting to hear if we have in fact received it. It is a
cash/match grant. The deadline is 2010.
Breuer said the playground grants that we just applied for go to Council on Nov.
10th and the deadline is November 141.
Budzynski wondered if we should make the Safe Routes to Schools Grant the
topic for discussion in January to make sure we get things spurred on by mid June
or July so we have some actions' goingforward with the Council. Perhaps the
Council liaison could bring up the urgency of this. This is free money. The other
thing he thought would be helpful is to have the grants that are pending listed on
the agenda and where we are at with each of them. This one grant is $175,000.
That's a lot of money.
Trevorrow`thought there could be some information from the Council in January
as to what they are going to do.
Budzynski thought some meetings could be set up with this Commission, Council
and all the people involved. We did that with the disc golf course and came up
with great results. Budzynski asked if the year ended well with the disc golf
course.
Breuer stated it did. We had one dog off leash call and one call requesting to
replace the sign on the cul-de-sac. It will be in our work plan for 2009.
Breuer stated that the Council has given it back to staff. It is now in our hands.
The City Engineer is working on many grants. We can't do anything at Hansen
until spring so he is letting this one go until early spring. She can't really see that
. this will go before Council in January.
Budzynski said he just wants to make sure that we are keeping an eye on it and
that we are pushing it along so we don't run out of time at the last minute.
