Larson mentioned that he also received the postcard and it would appear that
every Council member and commissioner also received it. He voiced disapproval of the negative
tactic and the distortion of the facts. Harmon suggested that the postcard may raise a few
questions, which could be addressed at the Town Hall Meeting.
Black asked for suggestions from the Commission regarding a business survey. Harmon
suggested that the business owners also include their employees, who would give a different
perspective. Benke indicated that he would be willing to assist staff with this survey and would
be willing to help conduct face-to-face interviews. Harmon also suggested that the survey be
combined with marketing for the City, so that business owners are aware of City services. Benke
cautioned staff about conducting a survey without having solutions to the business owner's
problems. Larson indicated that he also could help with the survey and is looking forward to
improving relationships with area businesses. Harmon also suggested that a newsletter through
e-mails would be a great way to keep area business owners informed.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 a.m.
