Our Council Representative is Council Member Sharon Doffing <br />Our Staff Liaison is Bob Jacobson, Director of Public Safety <br />Our Staff Assistant is Julie Forbord Office Supervisor Public Safety <br />Our meetings are called to order at 6:30 PM typically on the last Wednesday of the month and we follow <br />an agenda that generally includes, Minutes of the previous months meeting, followed by any business <br />pertaining to Public Hearings or Presentations. <br />There are four primary Department Reports on the monthly agenda. <br />1. Human Rights — Reported by Director Jacobson <br />2. Allina Medical — Reported by Allina Representative Bill Snoke <br />3. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPs) -- Reported by Tish Wood <br />4, Public Safety /Homeland Security Update -- Reported by Director Jacobson <br />Our department reports are typically followed by an update on Council matters by our Council Liaison, <br />Council Member Sharon Doffing. <br />Our agenda then includes Old Business before the Commission and any New Business to come before the <br />Commission as referred by the City Council. <br />As indicated by our agenda our Commission address's many areas that are of concern to the citizens of <br />New Brighton. <br />Human Rights: <br />We are fortunate in the area of Human Rights to have a relatively low incidence of activities against our <br />citizens. Our Police respond to any incident, the information on the incident is reported to our <br />Commission, Director Jacobson and members of the Commission follow up with the citizens to <br />demonstrate support for them and provide additional information as available. <br />Allina Medical: <br />Allina's Representative, Bill Snoke attends our meetings to provide updates on Allina's medical <br />transportation activities for unscheduled ambulance calls for New Brighton's citizens, response time's for <br />calls and other activities related to their services to our city. As an example, for the period from January <br />2008 to September 2008 Allina made 1,331 unscheduled ambulance calls to New Brighton. The numbers <br />of call types are broken down for this period as: Medical 379, Trauma 280, Heart 248, Breathing 208, <br />Behavioral 95, MVC 56, Stroke 47 and Public Safety Assistance 18. Of these calls the average response <br />time is 7 minutes and 10 seconds, 95% of calls are responded to in less than 11 minutes, and 100% of the <br />calls are responded to in less than 18 minutes. As an added note our Police response time to these medical <br />calls is approximately 4 minutes. <br />VIPs: <br />Tish Woods reports on the activities of the VIPs members for ongoing programs in place and periodic <br />events participation that occur during the calendar year. Monthly reports are given on the progress for <br />Project Lifesaver headed by Bob Parrott, Graffiti Abatement conducted by Ray Tandeski and able <br />assistant Long Nyugen. Park Patrol and Well Watch are provided leadership by Jim Woods. The <br />Fingerprinting program for NB citizens and others is administered by Eunice Westby. Additional <br />activities include Fire Department Dinners, National Night Out, Stockyard Days, American Red Cross <br />. Blood Drives, Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, Child Safety Seat Clinic and Kidcare. <br />
