0 Allina Medical <br />Mr. Dave Mattson attended for Mr. Bill Snoke. <br />Mr. Mattson reported the cities of Apple Valley, Lakeview and Farmington will now <br />contract with Allina for ambulance service as of February Is'. Allina is working thru <br />purchasing equipment and absorbing their employees. <br />In November, Allina began using a new CAD system which replaced a system that was <br />16 years old. This has been a big change and a big learning curve for all employees; they <br />are still working out the bugs. In March, Allina will start using electronic charting. <br />At the end of December, Allina will begin using a new "MDT" mobile terminal; this will <br />be a great addition as they will have mapping capabilities. In January, four new <br />ambulances will be put into service. <br />Volunteers in Public Safety (YIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods presented the following VIPS report: <br />o Project Lifesaver presentations continue to increase coverage across the state. <br />o VIPS will be helping at the next blood drive. <br />o VIPS will be bringing in Christmas cookie trays for the police and fire departments. <br />• VIPS will be preparing the Christmas dinner for the Fire department meeting. <br />a VIPS will be preparing the January Fire department dinner. <br />o VIPS members Ray Tandeski and. Long Nguyen covered up graffiti on the railroad <br />bridge on Cleveland. <br />Commissioner Woods made a motion to send a letter of recognition to retired Sgt. Ed <br />Werneke for his work on starting Project Lifesaver. Commissioner Kelly seconded. <br />Motion carried. Commissioner Kerns will draft this letter. <br />Public Safety / Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson reported New Brighton finished in 2nd place for National Night Out for <br />cities our size. <br />Officers responded to a call early this morning of a man down in his yard; the last report <br />on his condition is good. <br />Council Liaison <br />Council Report <br />Council Member Doffing noted the following items: <br />o The Truth in Taxation hearing was on Monday; the levy increase for 2009 will be <br />2.03%. <br />o Clean up continues in the NW Quadrant and construction has started on the hotel. <br />
