Public Safety Commission <br />December 3, 2008 <br />Attending: Commissioner Kerns, Commissioner Allen, Commissioner <br />Bredenbeck, Commissioner Elwell, Commissioner Kelly, <br />Commissioner Schumann, Commissioner Woods, Student <br />Commissioner Ngang, Director Jacobson, Sgt. Nelson, Officer <br />Hamdorf, Council Member Doffing and Dave Mattson <br />Absent: Commissioner Tollefson <br />Roll Call/Call to Order <br />Commissioner Kerns called the meeting to order at 6:40 pm. <br />October Meeting Minutes <br />The October 2008 meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Woods motioned to <br />accept the minutes; Commissioner Elwell seconded. Motion carried. <br />Public Hearin Presentations <br />DUI Enforcement — Sgt. Terry Nelson and Officer Trevor Hamdorf <br />Sgt. Terry Nelson and Officer Trevor Hamdorf gave a DWI presentation which included <br />reasons to stop vehicles, what they look for when someone is impaired, tests used to <br />measure impairment and the arrest phase. <br />Updates <br />CERT/Citizen Cor s Council <br />Director Jacobson had nothing new to report. <br />Commissioner Woods reported she attended the MN Citizen Corps Council conference. <br />The VIPS were well represented at this conference: 8 YIPS were assisting, 14 VIPS <br />attended, Bob Parrott was there for Project Lifesaver and Officer Paetznick gave two <br />presentations. <br />Commissioner Woods stated this year's conference was by far the best yet and she <br />encouraged the other commissioners to attend next year. <br />Department Reports <br />Human Rip-hts <br />. Nothing to report. <br />
