Bill Wedenbacher and Mr. Pete Willenbring, representing <br />the Rice Creek Watershed District were present to discuss <br />the intended treatment of the south basin of Long Lake~ <br />I <br /> <br />Councilmember Blomquist questioned what the permit process <br />has been or is with DNR and PCA. <br /> <br />Mr. Wedenbacher stated that the permit from DNR has been <br />applied for and that they anticipate no problems. Mr. <br />Wedenbacher noted that the chemicals were harmless and <br />they expect to receive all necessary permits. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke asked if the Rice Creek Watershed <br />District had had contact with the Long Lake Homeowners. <br /> <br />Mr. Wedenbacher stated that they had not but that they are <br />suggesting that this be done prior to the work actually <br />commencing. Mr. Wedenbacher noted that PCA is requesting <br />that the Watershed District contact the home owners and <br />the Watershed District is more than happy to do this. <br />Mr, Wedenbacher also noted that the Watershed District will <br />be providing literature to every home owner on the lake. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke asked Mrs. Pat Commers if the Long Lake <br />Homeowners Association was aware of the project and if they <br />had any concerns. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Pat Commers stated that the Homeowners Association was not <br />aware of the proposed sediment treatment and was very much <br />encouraged that information be deciminated. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Blomquist to authorize closing <br />of south basin of Long Lake from May 23 to June 11, 1983. <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Maurice Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />reviewed the staff report and proposed a development <br />program for a City Gift Book. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke stated that he would like to make <br />sure that the gift list is not just identified only as a <br />park function but should encompass all city activities. <br />Souncilmember Benke also suggested that it would be good <br />to contact as many neighborhood groups, schools and other <br />civic organizations so that all specific needs can be <br />identified. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Janecek to approve the <br />oeve10pment program for the City Gift Book as presented. <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Janecek to appoint the <br />following to the Long Lake Park Advisory Board: <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br />Gift Book <br />Report #83-19 <br /> <br />Appointments <br />Long Lake Park <br />Advisory Board <br />Report #83-21 <br />
