Cell Tower — Creekview Park — AT&T / Steve Truman
Breuer gave brief background. Steve Truman is here tonight, requesting on behalf
of AT&T, requesting use of the current (existing) pole at Creekview or install a
new pole. About 6 months ago we lost the current carrier; the pole is available.
The pole does have a siren. Steve Truman, AT&T, was present to take questions
from the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission. We are looking for a
recommendation from this Commission which will go to the Planning
Commission later this month.
Steve Truman stated he was here representing AT&T and is here to answer any
questions you may have.
Questions from the Commission were as follows:
• Will you be adding to the height of the pole or using the existing pole?
Truman said a study on the pole has already been done, unfortunately, most of
the poles used, were structurally the bare minimum. They only used three - 2
foot antennas. The pole is inadequate today. AT&T uses 6 antennas. They
have found that this pole will need to be replaced, mostly because there isn't a
base. The pole could be replaced at the existing height. City Council may want
to increase the height of the pole so that it can handle future requests on the
pole. AT&T will do whatever the City wants. The existing height of the pole
will work for AT&T. The design is very similar to the current pole. T -Mobile
is already there. There is only one other major carrier left and that is Sprint.
There isn't much in this area so there may be another request in the future.
