Tower Painting" <br />Audxxi=AdvafiqwiaA <br />for Bid <br />Director of Public Works Grant Wyffels introduced Seth Peterson; represeriting Bolton and Menk, Inc. Mr. RqxrtNo, 09-056 <br />Peterson gave some background information related to the south water tower. The tower was over coated in <br />1991(interior) and the exterior in 1996. Inspections were completed in 2002 and 2007; the inspections <br />indicated that the am ent paint is lead based. Two cost estimates were discussed; Option A would include a <br />complete repainting of the entire water tower, with an estimated cost of $1,487,400. Option B would include <br />a complete repainting of the exterior and interior dry surfaces and spot repair of interior wet surfaces, with an <br />estimated cost of $1,187,700. Life expectancy of the coating would be firm 22-25 years for the interior wet, <br />40-45 years for the interior dry and 22-25 for the actenor. A proposed schedule was outlined, with the bid <br />opening being March 16, reeommormlation to City Council on March 24, with a start date being sometime in <br />April, and a complexion date anticipated for September 2009. <br />Director Wyffels explained $1.25 million was budgeted for this project, and recommended waiting for the <br />bids to come in before making a decision as to which option to go with <br />Motion by Counc%nember Phillips, seconded by Councilmeember Doffing to approve the painting of <br />the south water tower and advertising for bids for Project 09-1.. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />2 Catisi a of <br />2. Consideration ofinformation relating to the installation of a Traffic Signal at the i&MW6Wt0dIe <br />Intersection of County Road H and Silver Lake Road. Report No. 09-057. hwunafim of a Two <br />Signalatt Ch t S0WMof <br />County Road H and Sliver <br />Director Wyffels reported the County is planning the installation of the signal this summer. Additional right Lak Road. Repot No o9 <br />of way (ROW) is required at 3 ofthe 4 comers of the intersection. One of the comers where right ofway is 057. <br />required is in New Brighton, while the other 2 are in Mounds View. The County is requiring the Cities <br />acquire the necessary right of way for the project in lieu of any other cost participation. Mounds View is <br />taking the lead on this project and will consider hiring Evergreen Land Service, a land and ROW acquisition <br />consultant (whom the City of New Brighton has used in the past) to coordinate this process. <br />Motion by Coundh tuber Phtilips, seconded by Councilinember Burg to consider information and <br />provide direction to staff regarding Council's continued support for this project and based on the <br />Council's direction, duvet staff to approve the Signal Justification Report and reach a satisfactory <br />cost participation agreement with Mounds View. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />3.
