City Manager Lotter reported Bob Long representing Lockridge Grindal Nauen attended the earlier council work session. Lodmdge Grindal Nauen would represent the City in DC and assist in pursuing Economic Stimulus package money, in addition to appropriation dollars for projects to advance cleanup efforts m the Northwest Quandrant. A contract was distributed, indicating an annual cost of $48,000. A 30 day written notice would teimiriate the contract if council decided to do so. Motion by Counci7inember Phillips, seconded by Counc hnember Burg to approve the contract with Lockndge Gnndal Nauen for Federal Government Relation services as discussed. Councilmember Bauman reported Haat because this money is coming from the recant stimulus package, she is not going to vote in favor of the item. Councilmennber Burg stated she is in favor of the item; m order prepare shovel ready sites for funding from the stimulus package. Councilamanber Doffing stated currently the City has very few opportunities to remove contamination from the Northwest Quadrant; she described this as an "amazing opportunity." Comalmernber Phillips reported he thinks the timing of the stimulus funds is appropriate, and will benefit the City of New Brighton. 4 Ayes,1 Nay- Motion Carried Ayes: Mayor Larson, Councilmembers Doffing, Burg and Phillips Nay. Councilmernber Bauman Commission Liaison BgRLrbAnnouncements and U tes City Manager --Dean Lotter Manager Lotter reported it was determined at the recent Teambuilding resat to hold 1 additional monthly work session meeting in order to discuss various council items. These meeting will occur on the fust Tuesday of each month It was reported there were two neighborhood meetingsup; Fetxvaiy I P at Freedom Park, and February 19'x' at Hansen Parik The recent joint meeting (February with the Colliers presentation was well attended, the meeting will be available on the City's website in the near future. Councihnember Mary Burg Councilmerunber Burg attended a North Suburban Cable Commission meeting. The recent EDC meeting was attended; the Northwest Quadrant Financial Task Force was discussed. A business questionnaire has been created, city staff; along with an EDC commissioner are talking with local businesses about their thoughts on doing business in New Brighton. The venue for the EDC meetings have been moved from the council chambers to the conference room. Meetings will continue to be audio recorded. Couneilmember David Phr71�s Councilmember Phillips reported the next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for February 17d'. There will be a Public Hearing to discuss zing code amendments.
