Grau, Assistant City Manager/Acting Finance Director <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motic:nby Blomquist, seconded by Schmidt to approve the <br />minutes cf Dece:,;:'er 22, 1981 as presented. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />Mayor Harcus made the following organizational <br />stateT''tent: <br /> <br />Mayor's Organizational <br />Statement <br /> <br />"New Brighton, unlike many other communities <br />within the state, is in a much better position <br />to weather the current recession, This position <br />is not an accident, rather, it is the result of <br />the hard work by our ':;i ty employees and the <br />conservative decisio~ making of prior councils. <br /> <br />While we are ir better position to weather the <br />recession, we also have a number of areas that <br />require funds. These areas include the water <br />system, fire hall, city hall, redevelopment projects, <br />and the downtown liquor facility, Our biggest <br />challenge will be to find the -ecessary resources <br />with0ut jeopardizing our level of service either in <br />the ~hort term or in the long run, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />!! <br /> <br />Most of our revenue sources are dependent on the decisions <br />made in. the State Capitol.
