<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />January 12, 1982 <br /> <br />In the meantime, business must continue and the <br />work program proposed for 1982 will be aggresive. <br /> <br />Some of the major tasks/goals facing the city <br />council and employees: <br /> <br />l. <br />2. <br /> <br />Providing a new contaminant-free water supply. <br />Form a financial advisory board to develop/ <br />review long and sh~rt term financial policy. <br />Finding a replacement for Chief Holmes who will <br />be retiring in March. <br />Revising the current fire hall and city hall. <br />Review and build a new downtown liquor facility <br />if economically justified, <br />Continue to facilitate development or redevelopment <br />of underutilized property that is cost effective <br />to the public investment, <br />To complete the review of the Long Lake plan and <br />adopt an acceptable plan for submission to Ramsey <br />County and the Metropolitan Council, <br />Review and implement specific management and <br />operational improvements designed to reduce <br />costs, increase operating efficiency, and/or <br />provide a better service level. <br />Develop and administer a resident survey as to <br />public perception and desires regarding levels <br />of service and willingness to pay. <br />Assessment of budget reduction, use of reserves <br />or fee increases to balance the 1982 operating <br />budget once a final bill is approved in St. Paul. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />4, <br />5. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />7, <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />These are some of the major tasks facing the City. <br />There are numerous other tasks and goals that we will <br />also be addressing, All of the goals are obtainable <br />with a lot of hardwork on the part of our employees, <br />adivsory boards and council. <br /> <br />The Mayor appointed Dave Fridgen, City <br />Sanitarian, as the City's Assistant Weed <br />Inspector for 1982. <br /> <br />1982 Appointments - <br />Assistant Weed <br />Inspector <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus requested Council consent to <br />appoint Jeanne Moore to the Civil Service <br />COITl!n.ssion for a term to expire in 1984, <br /> <br />Civil Service <br />conunission <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Schmidt to <br />withhold consent of the Mayor's appointment <br />of Jeanne Moore to the Civil Service conunission. <br />3 ayes - 2 nayes (Harcus, Janecek) - motion carried <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke stated that he moved the <br />motion to withhold consent of Jeanne Moore for the <br />following reasons: <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />~ <br />
