<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />March 9, 1982 <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus indicated he had heard from several <br />people that there was a need for picnic/sun shelters. <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Janecek to approve <br />use of the Eagles Club gift for an end-of-the-season <br />picnic or similar social event for the Department's <br />YOllth sports program and to direct staff to investigate <br />the cos ts 0 f purchasing a sun shelter for Hansen Park <br />and bleachers for Totem Pole Park and to return for <br />Council approval by April 13, 1982. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to <br />award the 1982 New Brighton/Mounds View <br />tree and stump removal contract to Clark <br />Landscaping of Columbia Heights in the amount <br />of $55,875.85. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />1982 Tree Removal <br />Contract <br />Report No. 82-56 <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist to <br />defer ction on SP-IOl and direct staff to <br />place the item on the Council agenda when <br />the applicant's proposal meets building code <br />requirements; and to move that the applicant <br />not use the building until all necessary Council <br />action and permits 3' processed. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />SP-101, Salem Baptist <br />Church <br />Report No. 82-62 <br /> <br />The Mayor with consent of the Council directed <br />receipt of the letter from Mr. Paul Skjervold, <br />attorney representing Mr. Robert Nixon. <br /> <br />R-122, Group IV <br />Comprehensive Rezoning~ <br />H.eport No. 82-63 <br />ORDINANCE #490 <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Nixon, 1140 NW 1st Street, stated that <br />he was still opposed to the rezoning and that he <br />would appreciate a delay until his attorney returns. <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus asked if either Mr. Nixon or his attorney <br />wished to provide any further information regarding <br />the rezoning. <br /> <br />Mr. Nixon replied that he had no further information <br />but he felt his attorney might have. <br /> <br />Counci1member Janecek asked Mr. Nixon if his attorney <br />had been with him when this item had been reviewed previously. <br /> <br />Mr. Nixon replied that his attorney was not with him at <br />the Planning Commission meeting but that he had been <br />present at the last Council meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus stated that if either Mr. Nixon or his <br />attorney had any further information or that had they <br />stated they were considering offering further information <br />he would have been agreeable to delaying the second reading <br />of the ordinance. <br /> <br />-4- <br />
