I

I

I

City of New Brighton
April 27, 1982

Counci1member Schmidt asked if it was
likely that the three (3) nothern lots
could be sold and developed at a price
comparable to the southern-most lot.

The Director of community Development stated
that in his opinion the lot that posed the
greatest potential problem was the northern-
most corner lot in that it was on a more
heavily traveled street and because of the
side street yard setback required provided
the least buildable area for a home which
therefore made development probably more
difficult. The Director of community Development
stated that in his opinion development on the
northern lot may not happen if lots are sold
individually.

After considerable discussion the Council
acted in the following manner:

Motion by Blomquist to defer action on
the purchase agreements as submitted until
May 11, 1982 and to direct staff to invest-
igate the possibility of selling all four(4)
lots as a package.

Motion died for lack of second.

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to authorize
the Mayor and Manager to execute a purchase agreement
with Karl and Christine Ruser for sale of Lot 18,
Block 1, Redmond Addition.
4 ayes - 1 naye (Blomquist) - motion carried

Mr. Karl Ruser, 2297 Standish, St. Paul, stated
that it was their intention to construct a
quality home on this site and he also stated
that he was a horticulturist at the University
of Minnesota and that as a result he took great
pride in the landscaping and development of his
property. Mr. Ruser stated that he could assure
the Council that they would take good care of
the property, that they would be good neighbors
for the community and that they felt they would
be good neighbors for the other party wishing
to buy the remaining lots.

Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to direct
staff to entertain offers for the remaining
three (3) lots as a package of all three (3)
lots together.

-5-
