<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />May 25, 1982 <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br />Mr. Gordon Hedlund, applicant, was present <br />to review his proposed plat and planned <br />residential development. Mr. Hedlund reviewed <br />the history of the property noting how the <br />street had been constructed, the soil problems <br />of the property and the various costs of <br />construction including those for driveways <br />and utilities. Mr. Hedlund also noted that <br />the Metropolitan Council has been encouraging <br />development of modest cost housing and had <br />repeatedly indicated that one of the detriments <br />to providing affordable housing was the high <br />cost of land. Mr. Hedlund stated that he therefore <br />felt his plans as proposed with six (6) lots on <br />the west side of 9A Avenue was justified. <br /> <br />PL-130, PRD-134 <br />Leier Estates <br />Report No. 82-131 <br />7:35 - 7:40 <br />RESOLUTION #2599 <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated that he understood <br />that the applicant had agreed with the Planning <br />Commission and staff and that he felt the <br />compromise was a good one and that the area <br />could be developed in an acceptable manner. <br /> <br />Al Logelin, 933 11th Avenue NW, stated that he <br />supported the Planning Commission and staff position <br />and stated that he felt that the lots on the west <br />side of 9A Avenue should have a comparable width with <br />lots along 11th Avenue. <br /> <br />Joel Olson, 951 11th Avenue NW, stated that he <br />felt six (6) houses along the west side of 9A Avenue <br />was not consistent with the neighborhood and that <br />he would support five (5) homes as discussed by <br />staff and the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to close <br />the hearing. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to waive the <br />reading and adopt a RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF <br />FACT AND APPROVING PRELIMINARY PRD-34 AND PRELIMINARY <br />PLAT, PL-130. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Council Business <br />Mr. Howard Rekstad, representing Salem Baptist <br />Church, was present and requested that the <br />Council act favorably on their request. <br /> <br />SP-IOl, Salem <br />Baptist Church <br />Report No. 82-135 <br />RESOLUTION #2600 <br /> <br />Councilmember Janecek asked if the Church <br />had any problems with combining the properties <br />as required by the proposed resolution. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
