<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />June 8, 1982 <br /> <br />Councilmember Janecek stated that she felt the <br />project was important to the city as a whole <br />and that it is important that the risks be kept <br />at a minimum and that she fel t co'~:Eident the agreement <br />provided the guarantees necessary for the City. <br />Councilmember Janecek stated that on that basis <br />she could support the agreement. <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus stated that the propJsed project <br />will still have to pass the test of the hotel <br />industry and financial market pla~e who will both <br />review and eventually must approv~ this project <br />which will only add security to t~e project. <br />Mayor Harcus noted that there were still several <br />arguments that must be negotiated and much work <br />to be completed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Blomquist stated that he was concerned <br />for the amount of public incentive proposed for the <br />ownership by the City of the fir9~ floor and for the <br />length of years necessary to pay back City costs. <br />Councilmember Blomquist stated t>.3.t he felt the project <br />had changed substantially in the '.'.lst several months <br />and that while there had been much public involvement <br />previously, that public involveme~t had droppe~ <br />substantially in the last several months. Cour.cilmember <br />Blomquist stated that his preference would be to postpone <br />action at this time and to solic~t additional public <br />participation. <br /> <br />Council.membor Benke stnted that, there are many positive <br />things in regard to this project, however, i~ is important <br />that the City proceed cautiously as t~e Council is discussing <br />the use of public money. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to authorize the <br />Mayor and Manager to execute t~e Letter Agreement with <br />McCullough and company. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Schmdit, seconded by Blomquist to <br />hold a Council worksession on June 28, 1982 <br />at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of reviewing t~e <br />1981 Audit and Financial Management Report. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carriec <br /> <br />1981 Audit <br /> <br />Mr. Michael Fredericks, representing Trend <br />Enterprises, was present. <br /> <br />Tax Exem?t Mortgage <br />Trend Enterprises <br />Report No. 82-150 <br />RESOLUTION #2:03 <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to <br />waive the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION <br />CALLING FOR PUBLIC HEARING PURSUANT TO <br />MINNESOTA STATUTES, SECTION 474.01, SUBD. 7b <br />and to set the date and time for ~he public <br />hearing for July 13, 1982 at 7:35 p.m. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />-4- <br />
