' <br /> <br />,;",,~ ...-...;",,, "I\r'", <br /> <br />r' <br /> <br />1"""1 <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />June 22, 1982 <br /> <br />Mayor Harcus' stated that he would be in <br />favor of not changing the ordinance as he <br />felt this would help reduce crime by not <br />providing places to hide and also it would <br />help control the storing of large numbers <br />of vehicles on the streets. <br /> <br />The City Manager noted that the suggested <br />ordinance change originated from the Ramsey <br />County Courts and the result of parking <br />situations in and around a few City apartment <br />complexes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Blomquist stated that he <br />agreed with the Mayor's assessment and stated <br />he would also favor not changing the ordinance. <br />Councilmember Blomquist also stated that he <br />felt the ordinance was an aid in police protection <br />and was also something the Police Department had <br />indicated previously was needed. <br /> <br />Counci1member Janecek stated she also favored <br />not changing the ordinance and agreed with the <br />assessment of the Mayor. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke stated that he concurred with <br />others who have spoken and that he would like to <br />see some feedback from the Public Works Department, <br />Police Department and Fire Department. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Harcus to defer <br />action on an ordinance regarding overnight parking <br />and to request staff to investigate other alternatives <br />and to request review of the situation and proposed <br />parking ordinance by the police, Fire and Public <br />Works departments. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to call <br />a special Council worksession for the purpose <br />of a performance appraisal of the City Manager <br />for June 28, 1982 following the Council Audit <br />and Financial Management Worksession. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist to <br />renew the City's automobile and package insurance <br />coverage with the Home Insurance Company from <br />July 10, 1982 to July 10, 1983 at a cost of <br />$43,281.00 and delete the short rate penalty <br />exclusion. <br /> <br />-4- <br /> <br />j',"".~._'!il "1i!t1~:J4'., <br /> <br />, .~d:0:;~~; <br /> <br />parking Ordinance <br />Report No. 82-162 <br /> <br />Manager's <br />Performance <br />Appraisal <br /> <br />Insurance Coverage <br />Renewal <br />Report No. 82-161 <br />
