<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />July 27, 1982 <br /> <br />legislative session the State Legislation was changed <br />to provide for the sale of liquor on Sundays beginning <br />at 10:00 a.m. Councilmember Benke stated that he could <br />see no harm in the proposed ordinance, that he could <br />see no harmful impact on the morals of the community <br />and that he could support an ordinance change. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated that he did not feel that <br />the City Council could legislate morality and that the <br />statute allows for Sunday sales beginning at 10:00 a.m. <br />only so long as it is within a restaurant as is the <br />case of Robert Lee's. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Benke to direct staff <br />to prepare an ordinance permitting the sale of intoxicating <br />liquor between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight <br />on Sundays. <br /> <br />Vote on motion <br />2 ayes - 2 nayes (Blomquist, Janecek) - motion failed <br /> <br />Ms. Judy Hove was present to answer questions. <br /> <br />The City Attorney noted that while there are some short- <br />comings of the proposed earnest money contract, it was <br />sufficient for our purposes. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to authorize the <br />Mayor and Manager to execute a Contract of Sale for <br />Lot 15, Block 1, Redmond Addition with Judy S.
