'1:rli<.....,,':.,:i~',"~~~~,J.,;. <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a regular meeting of the New Brighton <br />City Council was held Tuesday, August 24, 1982 at 7:30 p.m. in <br />the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Gregg Harcus, Councilmembers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist, Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />James Farnell, City Manager <br />Charles LeFevere, City Attorney <br />John Grau, Acting Director of Finance <br />Les Proper, Director of Public Works <br />James Winkels, Director of Community Development <br />John Kelley, Chief of Police <br />Joan Archer, City Planner <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Janecek to approve the minutes <br />of August 10, 1982 as presented. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Mayor with consent of the Council directed receipt of the <br />Park Board minutes of August 4, 1982 and the Planning Commission <br />minutes of August 17, 1982. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />Mayor Harcus noted that there had been several <br />very good applicants for positions on the <br />City's new Finance Policy Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Appointments to <br />Finance Policy <br />Advisory Board <br />Report No. 82-209 <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Janecek to appoint <br />David Eichers, William Jacobs, and Shirley Flekke <br />to terms on the Finance Policy Advisory Board to <br />expire December 31, 1983, and to appoint Lawrence <br />Olson, Steven Zenz, Shirley Hogan and Richard Poston <br />to terms to expire December 3l, 1984. <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke indicated that he agreed with <br />many of the proposed appointments as proposed by <br />the motion but questioned some of the appointments <br />in terrus of the term and individuals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt stated that he would like <br />to see some regrouping in terms of the terms specified <br />and perhaps a couple of changes of the membership as <br />proposed. <br />
