]imd If Ros.\ t:.G1

Additional Stearn Sales

The New Brighton Development Corridor has room for significant
I new tenants. Potential may exist to secure additional stearn users
to a level which would negate the necessity for electrical
production. Removal of electrical production would reduce both
capital and operating costs (personnel operating turbines). The
viability of this approach would be greatly dependent on the
proximity of the additional users to the plant. Piping costs and
line losses associated with substantial distances could make the
additional users uneconomical.

Steam~rice

The third area of potential relates to negotiations with stearn
consumers on the price of steam. This study has assumed that the
price of steam could not exceed the alternative fuel price adjusted
for conversion efficiency. In the event that district heating
steam could reduce the consumers operating and maintenance costs
associated with thermal energy production or remove the need to
replace stand-alone boilers, the final negotiated price of steam
could be higher than that used in this study.

I

I

- 24 -
