PLANNING REPORT <br /> DATE: January 16, 2009 <br /> CASE: SP2009-001 <br /> SUBJECT: Special Use Permit to Allow Construction of a 61' Telecommunications <br /> Tower/Antenna& Associated Structures at 2400 Mississippi Street <br /> APPLICANT: Steve Trueman on behalf of AT&T Mobility <br /> REQUEST&BACKGROUND <br /> The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit to allow construction of a 61' monopole <br /> telecommunication tower with six panel antennas mounted flush with the tower. This tower <br /> would replace the existing 60' tower that houses the emergency siren. The emergency siren <br /> would be transferred to the top of the proposed 61' tower. Additionally, AT&T proposes to <br /> construct a 12' x 20' pre-fabricated equipment shelter at the base of the monopole. Lastly, the <br /> proposed 61' tower would be located approximately 20' west and 15' north of the existing 60' <br /> emergency siren tower that would be removed. <br /> The applicant has been working with the Director of Public Works concerning the logistics of <br /> constructing the tower on city-owned property. The applicant also appeared before the Parks, <br /> Recreation & Environmental Commission on January 7, 2009, where a recommendation to <br /> approve was passed.
