<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />September 22, 1981 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />water drainage and that they would encourage <br />the Council to reconsider this issue and <br />complete the drainage improvement. <br /> <br />Laura Johnson, area resident, stated that not <br />all the area residents felt responsible for the <br />drainage problem and she suggested that the Council <br />pay particular attention to the Salem Baptist Church <br />property since they had paved a large area of their <br />site in recent years. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Blomquist to consider <br />this project and direct the City Engineer and <br />Planning Department to study and report with other <br />proposed 1982 improvements. <br />S ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Director of Parks and Recreation was <br />present and reviewed his report regarding <br />purchase of a park shelter building at Sunny <br />Square Park. <br /> <br />Sunny Square Park <br />Playground Equipment <br />Report No. 81-199 <br /> <br />After considerable discussion the Council <br />acted in the following manner: <br /> <br />Motion by Senden, seconded by Benke to <br />defer action on the park shelter building <br />and to direct staff to consider alternatives <br />for construction of wood structures including <br />local design and construction and to refer <br />the item to the Park Board for their report <br />and recommendation. <br />S ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Director of Parks and Recreation was <br />present and reviewed his report. <br /> <br />Day Care Program <br />Report No. 81-l97 <br /> <br />Sally Lawrence of the League of Women Voters <br />adressed the subject based on a study <br />conducted by the League of Women Voters. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Janecek to <br />continue the consideration of a day care <br />program to a future date and to direct <br />staff to continue the discussion with <br />the League of Women Voters, interested <br />parents, and the school district including <br />possible alternatives including a parents <br />co-op and to define responsibilities of <br />each group including the use of City <br />liability insurance. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />-3- <br />
