I

1

I

City of New Briqhton
October 27, 1981

Special Order of Busin~ss
Mr. Don Salverda,-Ramsey~-county Corrunissioner,
and Mr. Ken Weltzin, county Engineer, were
present to discuss the County's 5-Year plan.

Mr. Salverda reviewed the various goals and
objectives of the County's Plan and indicated
that the scheduling of projects in the 5-Year
Plan is based on County-wide priorities and
on available funds.

Mr. Weltzin stated that there is presently
about 3 million dollars annually for highway
purposes of which 60% is allocated for
reconstruction purposes and 40% to maintenance.
Mr. Weltzin stated further that this level of
funding provides limited opportunities to expedite
all the County-wide projects.

Councilmember Benke asked when the County expected
construction to begin on County Road D.

Mr. Weltzin said that he expected construction
on County Road D to commence in the spring of
1983.

Councilmember Janecek questioned the status of
the widening of the bridge over 1-694 at Silver
Lake Road.

Mr. Weltzin indicated that this bridge project
was shown in the 5-Year Plan for 1983 but that
this was under the jurisdiction of the State
of Minnesota.

The Mayor expressed appreciation for the
County's effort for the 10th Street project
but also expressed some concern that other
New Brighton projects not be delayed.

Mr. Weltzin stated that they have had problems
regarding the County Road 0 project because
they had been attempting to find federal funding
and that many projects are being delayed as
a result of an overall lack of funds and lack
of staff.

The Mayor with consent of the Council directed
receipt of a petition from City residents
requesting a semaphore at Rice Creek Road
and Silver Lake Road.

-2-

Ramsey County
5-Year Plan
RESOLUTION #2S18
