<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />November 24, 1981 <br /> <br />Mr. John Bell, appearing on behalf of the <br />New Brighton Eagles Club, Lions Club and <br />VFW, requested that the City consider <br />developing an ordinance permitting gambling <br />for various non-profit organizations. <br /> <br />Mr. Bell ~lso requested that any license fee <br />forgambli:ngactivites be non-excessive, <br />covering only actual city costs for regulation <br />and administration. <br /> <br />Mr. Dick Reno, member of the New Brighton <br />citizen Study Committee, stated that the <br />citizen Study conunittee would 'be willing <br />to study a proposed gambling ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Rosie Aerl, secretary of the New Brighton <br />Eagles Club spoke regarding the various <br />charitable organizations which have been <br />given donations by the New Brighton Eagles Club. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek to <br />direct staff to work with the City Attorney, <br />Mr. Bell, and the various non-profit organizations <br />regarding the preparation of an ordinance regarding <br />gambling activities and to report back at the <br />next Council meeting. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Benke to <br />approve final plat, PL-126 SUbject to <br />conformance with Council Resolution #2485. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Schmidt to <br />approve final plat, LP-l27, subject to <br />conformance with Council Resolution #2501. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Mr. Sandstro~Vice President of Bermel Sma by <br />the New Brighton office, was present. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Benke to waive <br />the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION MAKING <br />FINDINGS OF FACT AND APPROVING APPLICATION FOR <br />NON-CONFORMING USE VARIANCE, NC-53. <br />4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The City Planner reviewed the staff report <br />and recommended that Council continue <br />consideration of the special use permit <br />so as to provide sufficient time for the <br />church to review the building code requirements <br />in detail and the city Planner also recommended <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br />PL-126, Innsbruck <br />North-New Brighton <br />Third Addition <br />Report No. 81-242 <br /> <br />PL-127, Innsbruck <br />North-New Brighton <br />Fourth Addition <br />Report No. 8l-243 <br /> <br />NC-53, Bermel Smaby <br />Report No. 81-244 <br />RESOLUTION #2533 <br /> <br />SP-10l, Salem Bap0ist <br />Church <br />Report No. 81-245 <br />
