FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES subject to an acceptable
parking agreement with Kraus-Anderson Inc. acceptable to
the City Attorney; and to authorize a budget for the liquor
store expansion not to exceed $250,000 to come from liquor
fund reserves as temporary financing only due to cash flow
and operating expense requirements.

4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried

Motion by Janecek, seconded by Blomquist, to appoint
Councilman Steve Schmidt to serve on the design task force
for design of the Liquor store addition.

4 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried

July 4th/5th Celebration
Plans
Report No. 81-122

Mr. Gayle Bromander, vice-president of the New Brighton
Historical Society reviewed with the Council the events
regarding the use of a steam engine locomotive for train
rides on the 4th and 5th of July. Mr. Bromander stated
that the historical society had agreed on the theme for
the weekend being NEW BRIGHTON STOCKYARD DAYS. Mr. Bromander
also noted the following:

1. That he had reviewed the arrangement regarding parking entrance and
use of the site with the property owner;

2. That the historical society would be purchasing insurance for the days
of the events and would be naming the city and the property owner as
co-insured;

3. That fares for the 4-mile trip would be $3.00 and $2.00 and that pro-
motion for the event is going extremely well and it is hoped that a
large number of people will take part in the event.

Mr. Bill Graham, president of the Minnesota Transportation Museum stated
that the train would be arriving in New Brighton at 4 or 4:30 p.m. on Friday,
July 3 and that there would be a special trainride that night for some of the
organizers, that the operation on Saturday and Sunday, July 4th and 5th would
be approximately 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., that five coaches would be available with
a total seating of approximately 325 and that the train would be parked overnight
across from the maintenance building, and a crew would be on board for security
purposes. Mr. Graham stated that they would appreciate the use of a city
front end loader to load coal approximately one time on Saturday night for the
steam engine and also that it will be necessary to take water from the city
hydrants three or four times during the days.

The Acting Mayor and Council expressed their enthusiasm for the project and wished
the historical society and transportation museum the best of luck in the event.

No further action was taken.
