<br />~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />DETAILED JOB SPECIFICATIONS <br />CITY MANAGER <br />NEW BRIGHTON, MN <br /> <br />Education Qualifications: Education or training substantially equivalent <br />to post-graduate education with major studies in public <br />administration or related fields. <br /> <br />Recent education or training indicating current knowledge of <br />matters relating to municipal management. <br /> <br />Experience: A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible public <br />administrative experience in local government is required. <br />Experience should be primarily managerial rather than technical <br />or administrative. Duties and responsibilities in previous <br />positions should include planning, budgeting, staffing and <br />controlling of recognized local government units. <br /> <br />Experience in pUblic speaking is desirable. <br /> <br />Experience as a leader or member of pr~fessional,. advisory, citizen <br />or other committees or groups is helpful. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Experience should indicate the ability and desire to attempt <br />new and innovative approaches to management of a city when such <br />approaches are needed. <br /> <br />Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and <br />techniques of public administration/management. <br /> <br />Considerable demonstrated knowledge of standard principles and <br />practices in the field of personnel administration, <br />finance and budgeting and purchasing. . <br /> <br />Considerable knowledge of the organization and functions of <br />city government and ordinances, regulations, laws and policies <br />controlling its operation. <br /> <br />Professional Skills: <br /> <br />Must be competent in technical skills in government operations <br />especially financial planning and control, administrative ' <br />analysis, program direction and community planning. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Must demonstrate human relations skills and ability to work with <br />others inclu~ing council, d7partment heads and other employees, <br />representat~ve of other un~ts of government advisory groups <br />and other citizens.
