<br />City of New Brighton <br />January 27, 1981 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Senden, with consent of the Council, <br />directed receipt and filing of said photographs. <br /> <br />Connie Palmgren, 1171 Sessna Drive, spoke in <br />favor of the project stating the ditch was a <br />hazard for children waiting for the school bus, <br />for bicycle riders, etc. <br /> <br />Gordon Tuel, 1483 7th Street NW, stated the <br />cost for two (2) blocks of storm sewer pipe <br />was excessive and stated he was in opposition <br />to the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Pat McConnel, 572 10th Avenue SW, questioned <br />whether trailer court construction was responsible <br />for the present problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Don Erickson, affected property owner, spoke <br />in opposition stating he would prefer the ditch <br />to remain for open space reasons. <br /> <br />Mr. Dick Aplikowski, owner of the trailer court <br />in the affected area, spoke in favor. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Bernice Winter, area resident, spoke in favor. <br /> <br />Mr. Van Jensen, 321 Old Highway #8, questioned <br />whether the County would contribute toward <br />the project. <br /> <br />Mr. David Eichers, 1330 County Road D, spoke <br />in opposition. <br /> <br />Mr. Duane Wick, 420 15th Avenue SW, suggested <br />proper maintenance of the ditch could possibly <br />alleviate the problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Bedell, 1442 15th Avenue SW, stated <br />only approximately one-half of his property <br />is in the drainage district. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Schmidt to <br />continue the public hearing on Improvement <br />#81-2 to February 10, 1981 at 7:40 and to <br />direct staff to 1) investigate if Ramsey County <br />will participate in the cost of storm sewer <br />construction or if they will begin to provide <br />maintenance on the present ditch, 2) if a storm <br />sewer from l'1irror Lake discharges to the ditch. <br />3 ayes - 1 naye (Benke) - motion carried <br /> <br />-3- <br />
